Feminism Club

Feminism club is open to all students at SHHS and encourages both girls and boys to join to learn more about what feminism is. Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. One fundraiser the club hosts is for women’s shelters to help women who have suffered different types of abuse. Club members discuss current political and social issues for women, and the club also works on spreading feminism within SHHS. To join or learn more, email Ms. Rosen ([email protected]) or see her in 310W.

Model UN Club

Model United Nations is a club that simulates the United Nations conferences. The Model UN club is important in preparing future politicians to tackle real-world international issues. Members attend conferences in different schools, such as NYU, and clubs come from all over the world to discuss politics and to come together to solve problems that the real UN is working to solve. The club is run by Mrs. Horn. It is a great learning experience, and it’s a lot of fun! To join or learn more, email Ms. Horn ([email protected]) or see her in 308W.

Outdoors Club

The Outdoors Club’s main objective is to get students out into nature to enjoy our local environment. The club is run by Mr. Berger, who loves the outdoors and has plenty of experience in nature and wilderness survival skills. The club organizes regular hikes. One hike is to a peek where they sit and eat lunch while overlooking a beautiful view of the river and the Catskills. There is also an annual camping trip. Members who attend the hikes are eligible to go camping. The Outdoors Club provides great exercise and a way to let go of school stress and explore nature! To join or learn more, email Mr. Berger ([email protected]) or see him in 217W.
